If Chur’s treasures weren’t already enough, it’s also home to the Bernina Express, a train whose epic engineering achievements (including 196 bridges and 55 tunnels) is only bested by its Alpine scenery. The four-hour journey takes you across the border to Tirano, Italy, from where a change of train soon sees you arrive into Milan. Architecturally and culturally very different to Switzerland, Italy’s second biggest city is famed for two things: its boutique shopping, and da Vinci’s Last Supper.
